A Trip to St Boniface Church

On Monday afternoon Year 1 took a walk from school down to St Boniface Church in St.Budeaux. While we were there Reverend Alison told us the Christmas story and the children sang Away in a Manger to the ladies of the church.  The children really enjoyed looking around the church at the beautiful and unusual Nativity scenes from around the world.

Rev Alison has just sponsored some olive trees in memory of her husband who was passionate about the Palestine/Israel conflict.  This was through a charity Alison supports called Embrace.  In the last 46 years Palestinian farmers have lost 800,000 olive trees as a result of occupation.  By sponsoring olive trees people help Palestinians maintain ancient ties to the land, preserving an important source of income and sustenance.  Embrace aims to improve the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the Middle East.  They do this by partnering with local Christians who provide health, education and community development to those in need, regardless of their faith or nationality.  Embrace the Middle East is a non-governmental, inter-denominational charity.  More information can be found out at http://www.embraceme.org/.
