As part of Year 1's work on our Local Area, 1CW spent the afternoon at Kinterbury Creek. The children were identifying different geographical features, and they can now distinguish human features from physical features.
Although there are some lovely plants, butterflies and swans at the Creek, sadly some people have left litter there, and even burned the bridge down. So as well as finding features they liked at the Creek, the children thought about ways that they would improve it if they could. Some ideas included setting up a fishing area, putting a slope on the steps so that prams and wheelchair users could go up or down them, and planting flower seeds to attract more butterflies and bees.
If you have any good ideas that you think would improve this lovely place, please add your comment to the Blog!
