Laura explained to us why her uniform and equipment are so important, and why they are designed the way they are. She also told us about her work. We were very interested to know that we must wait until Laura is standing in the middle of the road holding her lollipop stick with her arms outstretched before we cross the road with her. It is not safe to cross until Laura is in this position.
Laura really enjoys getting the children and families safely across the road, and although she loves saying 'hello' to the people she helps while she is on duty, she is not allowed to stop and chat until she has finished her shift each day. We also learned that Lollipop Ladies aren't allowed to give out sweets to the children, and 'high 5s' are forbidden as it would be dangerous.
We would like to thank Laura for taking the time to come in tell us about her work and how we can keep safe when we are crossing the road.
