This year Year 1 are going to be participating in The Ant Club Rhyme Challenge. The idea is that the children learn a selection of rhymes at school and at home to achieve the Rhyme Challenge award. This will enhance the children's speaking and listening skills and support both reading and writing tasks in school. We will be learning 10 rhymes over the next few months and we ask that children could try and learn one a week. We will let you know each week which rhyme they should learn but a timetable is provided below.
Week 1: The Park
Week 2: 5 Currant Buns
Week 3: Mud
Week 4: After a Bath
Week 5: Dressing Too Quickly
Week 6: Walking Through the Jungle
Week 7: Swan Swan over the Sea
Week 8: Row Row Row your Boat
Week 9: Halfway Down
Week 10: Old MacDonalds mixed up Farm
Each week the children will select children from each class to perform the rhymes which you will be able to access on our website.
